Retaining Walls
Retaining walls can be built in two different ways depending upon the use of the wall. Nature’s Way will work with you to design the wall that is best suited to your needs. We have access to Engineers to design your retaining wall that will exceed 48” in height. We have the capabilities to engineer, design and construct walls from 0-12’+. Retaining walls can be constructed as Gravity Walls or Grid Reinforced Walls.
Retaining walls can be constructed from Natural Stone or Concrete Blocks known as Segmented Retaining Walls. Nature’s Way’s installers are certified in SRW installation by the National Concrete Masonry Association.
Gravity Wall:- The weight of the blocks themselves are instrumental in retaining the soil or gravel behind the walls. Gravity Walls can have a zero batter or setback and walls that need the extra retention will have a setback as specified by the manufacturer, height is often the determinate for a setback.
Grid Reinforced Wall:- These walls are often constructed with the same materials as the Gravity Wall but the Geogrid is used in this construction method to allow for a larger “surcharge” behind the wall and to allow a wall to be constructed with less or no setback and yet have greater structural strength. The secret behind the Geogrid is that the backfill itself becomes a structural part of the wall in regards to the retaining abilities.
