Corn gluten meal is a natural by-product of the corn syrup
industry. It has been used as a feed for animals and is now available for
weed control. It is not fully understood exactly how the Corn Gluten works
but when the material is applied to the soil, allelochemicals are biologically produced that inhibit root
growth on germinating seeds. Corn Gluten has NO detrimental effect on
established plants, it is actually a high protein and as such will provide a
10% source of nitrogen as a Natural Organic fertilizer. Corn Gluten needs to be applied prior to the germination of
annual weed seeds, which will be early spring and late summer. The
application rate is 20lb per 1000 sq`. You must water this product into the
turf and then allowed to dry. You can also use this in flower / vegetable
beds as long as you are not trying to plant seeds. The effect of Corn Gluten last about 6 weeks and should be
applied no more frequently than twice a year. Summer Insects A weak, unhealthy lawn is a prime target for insects. The first
step in preventing insect damage is ensuring you keep your grass plants
healthy, this includes watering and feeding the plants. It is possible to
keep a healthy lawn free from insect damage, use high Endophyte grass seed to
help repel Chinch bugs and other blade feeding insects. Root feeding insects
can be controlled by the use of Beneficial Nematodes. Please feel free to
